Terms of Service
The agreement between you and Trovalo when you use the app. Plain language, because none of it needs hiding.
Who this is between
The agreement
Trovalo is developed and operated by Aly Badawy. By downloading, signing in to or using the app, you agree to these terms; if you don't, please don't use it.
The store's terms apply too
These terms sit alongside the terms of the store you got Trovalo from - Apple's App Store or Google Play - which govern the download and anything you buy; where the two conflict over a purchase, the store's govern it. How your information is handled is in the Privacy Policy.
Your account
Apple, Google or email
You sign in with Apple, with Google (on Android) or with your email address. Keep access to that account or email: it's how you get back in, and there's no other way to verify you.
Age
You must be at least 13, and old enough to agree to these terms where you live.
Trips are shared
Everyone in a trip sees it
What you add to a trip - plans, lists, photos, expenses, comments, ratings - can be seen by everyone in it, and changed or removed by those whose role allows it (organizers, and editors for most content). Organizers decide who's in a trip, and can delete it for everyone. Only invite people you're comfortable sharing with.
Leaving keeps the trip whole
If you leave a trip or delete your account, what you added stays in the trip under your name as a guest, so the plans and the money still make sense to everyone else.
Your content
It stays yours
What you put into Trovalo stays yours. Trovalo claims no ownership of it and doesn't use it to train anything, sell anything or profile you. You give permission to store it, sync it and show it to the people in your trips - only what's needed to run the app.
You're responsible for it
Nothing illegal, nothing that isn't yours to share (photos of other people included), nothing hateful or harassing.
Seats and Trovalo Plus
Free trips
Everyone gets two trips with full access, for life, whichever role they have. After that you can still be in trips, read-only, or get a seat.
Trip Seat
A one-time purchase giving you full access to one trip, for as long as the trip exists. It also unlocks expenses in other currencies, receipt scan and your document vault. If the trip is deleted before you've used the seat, it's kept for your next trip.
Trovalo Plus
An auto-renewing subscription giving you full access to every trip, and the same extras, while it's active. Payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google Play account at confirmation, and it renews automatically until you cancel. On the App Store, turn it off at least 24 hours before the period ends (you're charged within the 24 hours before); on Google Play, cancel before the renewal date. Manage or cancel it in your Apple ID settings, or in Google Play under Payments & subscriptions.
Organizers
Every organizer needs a seat. If an organizer's access ends and no organizer with a seat is left, the trip becomes read-only for everyone until an organizer renews, buys a seat or hands the trip over.
Prices
Shown in the app, in your currency, before you buy.
Payments and refunds
Handled entirely by Apple or Google; Trovalo never sees your payment details. Refunds go through the store's own process - we're happy to help you ask.
Restoring
Purchases are checked with Apple or Google and follow your Trovalo account, so what you bought works wherever you sign in - iPhone, iPad or Android.
Money in Trovalo
A calculator, not a bank
Trovalo keeps track of who paid what and who owes whom. It never moves money: "Pay" opens another app (Venmo, PayPal or Revolut), and what happens there is between you and that service.
Exchange rates
Daily guide rates, which may differ from what your bank charges; the rate on each expense can be changed to the one you got. Check the totals before you pay anyone.
Information in the app
A guide, not a guarantee
Weather, maps, travel times, exchange rates and destination details (plug types, emergency numbers and the like) come from sources believed reliable, and can be out of date or wrong. Always check what matters - especially emergency numbers and entry requirements - with an official source.
Acceptable use
Don't
Try to get into other people's accounts or trips; probe, scrape or overload the service; get around seats or Plus; or use Trovalo to break the law or harass anyone. An account that does may be suspended or closed - where it's practical, we'll say why first.
What isn't promised
As is
Trovalo is offered as is. We work to keep it running and your data safe, but can't promise it will always be available or free of errors.
Keep your own copies
Trovalo isn't a backup service: keep your own copies of tickets, documents and anything else important.
Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we're not liable for indirect or consequential losses - missed connections, lost data or money owed between members. Nothing here limits liability that can't lawfully be limited, and if you're a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.
Ending it
Any time
You can stop using Trovalo at any time and delete your account from inside the app; that's immediate and can't be undone. If the service ever closes, you'll get reasonable notice and a way to export your trips first.
Changes
If these terms change
The new version is published here with a new date. If a change materially reduces your rights, the app will tell you.
Governing law
New Jersey
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you're a consumer elsewhere, you keep the protections of your local law.
